Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for carbapenem antibiotic substance by reacting aminomethylhydroxybutyric acid with trisubstituted silyl chloride, adding dibenzothiazolyl disulfide, etc., and triphenylphosphine to the system and reacting the components.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula II can be produced by reacting (2S,3R)-2-aminomethyl-3-hydroxybutyric acid of formula I with a trisubstituted silyl chloride (e.g. tert butyldimethylsilyl chloride) in the presence of a base, adding 2,2'-dibenzothiazolyl disulfide or 2,2'-dibenzimidazolyl disulfide and triphenylphosphine to the system and reacting the components.
