Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compounds useful for producing an intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals, a functional substances, etc., by bringing a reactional product of a 3-chlorinated-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-propanone with an aromatic compound into contact with a protone donative compound.
SOLUTION: A 3-chlorinated-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-propanone represented by formula I [(n) is 1, 2 or 3] is reacted with an aromatic compound represented by formula II [Rs are each independently an alkyl, a haloalkyl or the like; (m) is an integer of 0-5] in the presence of a Lewis acid. The resultant reactional product is then brought into contact with a proton donative compound (water, a mineral acid, an organic acid, etc.), to produce a 3-chlorinated-1,1,1-trifluoro-2-aryl-2- propanol represented by formula III [(n) is 1, 2 or 3].
