Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound which is useful as an intermediate for agrochemical, medicines and organic materials for electronics by reaction of acetylene and alcohol derivative followed by deprotection through reduced process steps.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction of acetylene with an alcohol derivative of the formula I (X is halogen, R2SO2O-; R2 is alkyl, aryl; R1 is a protecting group of OH; n is 1 to 4) in the presence of a strong base such as metallic lithium in a solvent such as THF at -90 to +30°C to give an acetylenic compound of the formula II. Then, the protecting group for the hydroxy group is removed to give the acetylene alcohol of the formula III. The amount of the alcohol derivative is one equivalent, preferably 0.2 to 2 equivalent amount based on the acetylene and the strong base is used in an amount of 0.8 to 1.3 equivalent based on the acetylene.
