Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing an alcohol derivative having difluoromethyl group at α-site and important as a raw material for pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, functional materials, etc.

CONSTITUTION: The alcohol derivative having difluoromethyl group at α-site and expressed by the general formula R1R2C(OSiR3R4R5)-CF2H or R1R2C(OH)-CF2 H [R1 and R2 are independently H or (substituted) alkyl, aromatic group, aralkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; R1 and R2 may together form a ring; R3, R4 and R5 are independently alkyl or aromatic group) is produced by reacting a carbonyl compound expressed by the general formula R1R2C=O with a difluoromethylsilane expressed by the general formula R3R4R5Si-CF2H in the presence of an alkoxide ion source.
