Title:
PRODUCTION OF ALKANOLAMINES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0770004
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a production method capable of increasing the ratio of a monoalkanolamine among formed alkanolamines and further obtaining the monoalkanolamine low in the content of carbon dioxide.

CONSTITUTION: Ammonia is reacted with an alkylene oxide in the presence of an ammonium carbonate to form alkanolamines. The gas components composed mainly of ammonia and carbon dioxide are separated and recovered from the reaction solution and recycled into the reactional system. The bottoms are distilled under heating to separate water and further distilled under heating to separate and recover a monoalkanolamine containing carbon dioxide from the top of the column. The monoalkanolamine containing carbon dioxide is further distilled under heating to obtain the monoalkanolamine low in the content of carbon dioxide from the top of the column. The monoalkanolamine containing carbon dioxide is discharged from the bottom of the column and recycled to the preceding process.
