PURPOSE: To obtain allylcyclohexane useful as a raw material for heat-resistant polymers and a copolymer for polyolefins in high selectivity and inexpensively, by hydrolyzing cinnamic aldehyde to give 3-cyclohexyl-1-propanol and dehydrating.
CONSTITUTION: Cinnamic aldehyde is hydrogenated by using preferably ruthenium-active carbon or ruthenium-alumina catalyst preferably at 20W300°C, especially 70W170°C preferably under atmospheric pressure W 100kg/cm2, especially 5W30kg/cm2 hydrogen pressure to give 3-cyclohexyl-1-propanol. Then this compound is dehydrated preferably at 200W500°C, especially 300W400°C preferably under reduced pressure W 20kg/cm2 pressurized state, especially under reduced pressure W 10kg/cm2 pressurized state to give allylcyclohexane in high yield, industrially and advantageously.
