PURPOSE: To readily produce the subject compound useful as an intermediate for various fine chemicals such as peptide antibiotics useful as drugs in a high yield, by subjecting an amidoxime derivative to an deoxidative reaction with CO in the presence of a group VIII element catalyst under a mild condition.
CONSTITUTION: An amidoxime derivative of formula I [R is H, alkyl (capable of being substituted with a carboxyl or alkoxycarbonyl group), cyanoalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, group of formula II (X, Y, Z are H, alkyl, alkyl, etc.,)] (e.g., benzamidoxime) is subjected to an deoxidative reaction using carbon monoxide in the presence of a group VIII element catalyst (especially desirably rethenium trichoride, dodecacarbonyl tri ruthenium or hexadecacarbonyl hexa rhodium) to provide an amide derivative of formula III (e.g., benzamidine).
