PURPOSE: To produce an amorphous alloy having a prescribed shape in an improved yield and reduced man-hours without worry for generation of work strain by feeding a molten alloy between an anvil and a piston and cooling quickly the alloy.
CONSTITUTION: A base alloy 1 is charged into a crucible 2, and the alloy 1 is melted by using a heater 3 provided externally around the crucible 2. A pressure is exerted on the alloy 1 to drop the liquid thereof through a nozzle 4. When the liquid drop 10 of the alloy passes the center of the side face of an anvil 5, a piston 6 is operated and is advanced toward the anvil 5 to crush the drop 10 between the recess 8 of the anvil 5 and the projecting part 9 of the piston 6. The liquid drop solidifies without crystallizing at a suitable cooling speed at the same instant when it spreads to the shape of the recess 8 of the anvil 5. A sheet of an iron core material is thus formed.
