PURPOSE: To prevent the scattering of a molten metal and to produce an amorphous material at a high yield by ejecting the molten metal from a nozzle toward a high speed rotating roll in the direction at a slight angle to the tangent direction of the roll along the rotating direction of said roll.
CONSTITUTION: The direction (a) to which a molten metal is ejected from a nozzle 7 is made in the direction along the rotating direction of an arrow (b) of a high speed rotating roll 6 and the angle between the tangent direction (c) of the roll in the position where the molten metal ejected from the nozzle contacts with the roll 6 and the above-mentioned direction (a) is set at 0W20° in a method for producing an amorphous tape by ejecting the molten metal from the nozzle 7 toward the roll 6 and solidifying instantaneously the molten metal. Such a thing that the molten metal collides against the roll 6 and scatters fine particles is thus obviated and the yield of producing the amorphous tape is improved.
