Title:
PRODUCTION OF CALCIUM ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5956542
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a Ca alloy which is extremely less in impurities and the loss of Ca, by generating the vapor of metallic Ca, conducting the same directly to molten alloy elements and dissolving and absorbing the same.

CONSTITUTION: A thermal reduction method and a molten metal decomposition method can be employed as a method of generating metallic Ca; in the case of, for example, the latter, iron is charged into a high-frequency induction furnace 1 and is melted. CaC2 3 is added through a feed port 4 into the molten iron 2 to generate metallic Ca. Alloy elements consisting essentially of Al, Pb, Si-Mg, etc. are beforehand melted in a high frequency induction furnace 6 in a production section 5 for a Ca alloy. The generated metallic Ca is risen in a hood 7 and is conducted to the section 5 through a conduit 8 so as to be dissolved and absorbed in the molten alloy elements 9. A heat insulating material 10 contg. a heater is wound on the conduit 8 to prevent the condensation of Ca on the inside surfae of the pipe. Gaseous Ar is blown through a blow pipe 11 and is discharged through a discharging pipe 12, whereby the inside of the device is maintained nonoxidative. The molten Ca alloy is admitted through an outflow port 13 into a casting mold.
