To provide a production of ceramic parts to prevent the oxidation of the surface of an electrode film of a base metal at the time of heat treatment in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and to produce ceramic parts by allowing oxygen generating specified compds. or oxygen to coexist in the atmosphere.
In a process for heat-treating a ceramic preform and an electrode film of a base metal formed on the perform in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, plural kinds of oxides of the base metal different from each other in valence are allowed to coexist in the atmosphere, otherwise, oxygen is fed into the atmosphere and the amt. of oxygen fed is controlled in the heating, holding and cooling stage of the heat treatment. Since the oxides are of the base metal forming the electrode film, the degeneration of the component of the electrode film by chemical reaction with the oxides can be prevented. The electrode film is, e.g. a copper film and the ceramic preform is, e.g. a microwave dielectric.
