PURPOSE: To produce a composite member having high adhesive strength by stirring the molten metal to be joined to solid-state metal by electromagnetic force in tinkering.
CONSTITUTION: Solid-state metal 11 is preheated to a suitable temp. and is set in a mold 13 having an L-shape in section. Next, molten metal 12 of a prescribed temp. is teemed into the space formed by this mold 13 and the metal 11, and the metal 12 is stirred by the electromagnetic stirring effect of an electromagnetic furnace body 14 disposed in a way as to abut on the surface of the metal 11. This stirring prevents the temp. drop of the molten metal 12 at the interface of the metals 11, 12, forces the surface layer of the metal 11 to melt, increases the joining ratio of both metals 11, 12 and improves adhesive strength. In case when the metal 11 is ferromagnetic or well conductive, the effect of stirring lowers and therefore the body 14 is provided on the side face of the mold 13 on the side opposite from the metal 11 or on the bottom surface of the mold 13.
