PURPOSE: To obtain a composite ingot having the excellent adhesiveness of joint surfaces by branching a molten metal from the bottom of a casting mold between a flat core material disposed perpendicularly and the mold side wall parallel with the broad surface of the core material and pouring the molten metal into the casting mold in parallel with the board surface of the core material.
CONSTITUTION: The flat core material 1 consisting of a solid metal is disposed into the casting mold 3 in such a manner that the broad surface thereof is made perpendicular. The molten metal 2 consisting of the compsn. different from the compsn. of the material 1 is cast from a runner 6 of as mold stool 5 into the casting mold 3. A flow off port 7 is positioned at the intermediate of the material 1 and the side wall of the mold 3 to branch the molten metal 2 poured from the bottom to a Y shape from forked outflow ports 7a, 7b. The molten metal 2 is poured into the mold 3 in parallel with the broad surface of the material 1 to embed the material 1 by casting. The composite metallic ingot having the excellent adhesiveness of the joint surface is thus obtd.
