To obtain the subject compound in a high yield by using an accelerator in a reaction system.
This method for producing a cycloalkanol is obtained by mixing an oil phase containing a cycloalkane and an aqueous phase and performing a hydration reaction in the presence of a solid acid catalyst (e.g. mordenite) preferably at 80-160°C, under 0.2-2MPa pressure for 0.5-5hr. In the reaction system, an accelerator for dissolving the cycloalkane to the aqueous phase (e.g. alkyl sulfonic acid) and an accelerator for extracting the cycloalkanol into the oil phase (e.g. aromatic carboxylic acids) are made as coexisting. The coexisting amounts of each of the accelerators are preferably 0.1-10wt.% accelerator for dissolving the cycloalkane to the aqueous phase and 0.1-40wt.% accelerator for extracting the cycloalkanol into the oil phase based on the cycloalkane.
