PURPOSE: To enable long-term continuous production of a quickly cooled material by providing ameans for supplying a molten metal to a crucible while ejecting the molten metal to a device which ejects the molten metal in the crucible from a nozzle toward a rotary cooling body.
CONSTITUTION: The molten metal 4 in a crucible 3 is ejected from a nozzle 2 by the pressure p exerted in a pressurization part 3a and contacts with the surface of a cooling roll 1 under rotation at a high speed, by which the molten metal is quickly cooled and a quickly cooled material in the shape of a thin sheet or the like is obtd. A means 5 for supplying the molten metal by, for example, an electromagnetic induction system is used in this stage to eject the molten metal 6 held therein from an outflow port 8 by an electromagnetic induction mechanism 7, thereby supplying the molten metal to a charging part 3b. Then the moten metal 6 is charged into a crucible 3 with less fluctuation in the surface of the metal 4 in the crucible and therefore the molten metal is ejected from the nozzle 2 under extremely stable conditions and the quickly cooled material having an excellent characteristic is obtd.
