Title:
PRODUCTION OF DIALKYL CARBONATE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0344354
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To readily and economically obtain an dialkyl carbonate useful as various kind of solvents for resin, coating, etc., by reacting an alkylene carbonate with an aliphatic alcohol in the presence of a specific catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: An alkylene carbonate is reacted with an aliphatic alcohol using a hydrotalcite compound simultaneously containing at least MgO and Al2O3 as a catalyst at 100-300°C to provide the aimed product. As the catalyst, Mg0.7Al0.3O1.15 (commercial name: 'Kyoward 2000(R)' is exemplified and in a case of batch reaction, the catalyst is used at an amount of at least ≥0.1wt.% based on the alkylene carbonate. The aliphatic alcohol is used at an amount of 2mol based on the alkylene carbonate which is a raw material.
