Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce an alloy having a fine grain crystallinity obtained by primarily solidifying intermetallic compound Mg2Si phase, heterogeneity and ductility by adding a specific quantity of phosphorus into molten alloy containing Mg2Si.

CONSTITUTION: In the molten alloy containing ≥30 mol% Mg2Si, the phosphorus is added so as to contain 0.05-2.00 wt.%, desirably 0.15-0.30 wt.%. By this method, the development of dendritic structure in Mg2Si crystal element is restrained, and also, the max. average grain diameter of the Mg2Si crystal element can be made to ≤ about 30 μm.
