PURPOSE: To simply produce a composite material uniformly dispersing particles, etc., by adding coolant particles and fibers into molten metal passing through a nozzle, atomizing the mixed flow into fine droplets under reducing pressure and casting into a mold.
CONSTITUTION: The coolant is supplied to a coolant flowing hole 18 and the molten metal 12 in a ladle 11 is poured into reduced pressure vessel 14 through the nozzle 13. The coolant is blown into the molten metal 12 passing through the nozzle 13 and rapidly vaporized and expanded in the reduced pressure vessel 14 to atomize the molten metal 12 to the fine droplets 22. The fine droplets 22 are rapidly cooled to become semi-melted state and cast into the mold 15. On the other hand, the particles except the metallic oxide and fibers are added into the coolant passing through a pipe 20. The added particles and fibers are included in the drips 22 and dropped and uniformly dispersed in the semi-melted metal 23 in the mold 15. The mold 15 is rotationally moved and the semi-melted metal 23 is cooled and solidified under uniformly coexistent condition of solid and liquid phases, to form the dispersing reinforced type metal base composite material.
