PURPOSE: To obtain the titled adhesive of high stability with high water resistance after curing, by emulsion polymerization, in the presence of emulsifier and dispersion stabilizer consisting of water-soluble polymer with specific molecular weight followed by incorporating both photopolymerizable compound and photopolymerization initiator.
CONSTITUTION: The objective adhesive can be obtained by emulsion polymeriza tion, in the presence of (1) an emulsifier (e.g., sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate) and (2) a dispersion stabilizer consisting of water-soluble polymer with a weight- average molecular weight ≥10,000 (e.g., a saponified product from polyvinyl acetate), of (A) either (meth)acrylic alkyl ester (e.g., butyl acrylate) singly or (B) a mixture of the component (A) and another copolymerizable unsaturated monomer (e.g., acrylonitrile) followed by incorporation of a) a photopolymerizable compound having in one molecule at least one (meth)acryloyl group (e.g., 1,4-butylene glycol acrylate) and b) a photopolymerization initiator.
