PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing an entangled nonwoven fabric by efficiently laminating and integrating entangled nonwoven fabrics each having a high METSUKE (weight per a unit area of fabric) and made of ultrafine fibers.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of webs composed mainly of ultrafine fibers having fiber diameter of ≤7μm are laminated and the laminate is placed on a porous support and treated with a high-pressure water jet moving relative to the laminate to effect the entangling of the fibers constituting the laminated plural webs and integrate the laminate. In the above process, at least one layer of a web containing the fibers all over the web is laminated to the laminate at the side for getting the first application of the water jet.
