Title:
PRODUCTION OF EPOXY ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3264183
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an epoxy organopolysiloxane desirable to be added to an epoxy resin composition by reacting a specified organopolysiloxane with a higher fatty acid and an epoxy compound.
SOLUTION: This epoxy organopolysiloxane is produced by reacting a carboxylic organopolysiloxane with a higher fatty acid and an epoxy compound. An example of the epoxy organopolysiloxane is a carboxyl-modified silicone oil represented by the formula (wherein R is methyl or phenyl; at least one of X1 to X3 is an organic group having at least one carboxyl group, and the rest are methyl groups or phenyl groups; and (m) and (n) are each an integer of 0 or greater). The higher fatty acid is exemplified by a 10 C or higher aliphatic hydrocarbon compound having at least one carboxyl group in the molecule, such as capric acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid or linolic acid.
