Abstract:
To directly produce an ethylene fluoride iodide useful as an intermediate for a medicine and an agrochemical by reaction a cheap and an industrially and easily available ethane fluoride chloride with a metal iodide in a polar solvent.
An ethane fluoride chloride of the formula FmXnCH2Cl [(m) is 1 to 3; (n) is 3-(m); X is Cl or H], e.g. 2-fluoro-1-chloroethane is reacted with a metal iodide such as NaI and KI of 0.1-5.0 molar times of the ethane fluoride chloride in a polar solvent such as alcohols and ketones used in an amount of 100-5000ml based on 100g metal iodide at 80-250°C for 5-30hr to provide ethane fluoride iodide of the formula CFmXnCH2I, e.g. 2-fluoro-1-iodoethane.
