Title:
PRODUCTION OF FE-CR-NI-AL FERRITE ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05209218
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an Fe-Cr-Ni-Al ferrite alloy sufficiently combining the hardness of ceramics with the strength of metal and extremely suitable for cutting tools and wear resistant parts.

CONSTITUTION: The Fe-Cr-Ni-Al ferrite alloy where an alumina film is precipitated at the surface can be produced by applying heating to an Fe-Cr-Ni-Al ferrite alloy having a composition consisting of, by weight, 25-35% Cr, 15-25% Ni, 4-8% Al, 0.05-1.0% of one or ≥2 elements among Zr, Ti, Y, Hf, Ce, La, Nd, and Gd, and the balance Fe in an oxidizing atmosphere to precipitate an alumina component at the surface and then subjecting this alloy to cooling at ≥50°C/sec cooling rate, to heating at 550-600°C, and to cooling at ≥50°C/sec cooling rate.
