Abstract:

PURPOSE: To continuously and finally produce a nonmetallic flexible honeycomb core in low manufacturing cost with high production efficiency by one simple and easy manufacturing process series as a whole.
CONSTITUTION: At first, coating treatment due to the bonding and infiltration of a resin or humidification treatment due to steam is applied to a nonmetalllc matrix sheet 4 in a first process A. Thereafter, the treated matrix sheet 4 is molded by a mold consisting of a gears 17 or racks to form a corrugated sheet 6 wherein recessed and protruding parts of triangular corrugations are continuously bent and formed according to a predetermined system. A number of the corrugated sheets 6 are stacked to be bonded. By this constitution, a flexible honeycomb core being a planar aggregate of hollow columnar cells having cell walls bent on the way and forming an almost protruding shape having roundness is produced. This flexible honeycomb core can be freely deformed along various curved surfaces.
