Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a glass-ceramic composite material having thermodynamically stable composition by forming a glass fine particle to be bonded with a high temp. stable inorganic fiber as a matrix precursor by sol-gel method to form a matrix of a single crystal phase.

CONSTITUTION: A polymer gel is prepared by hydrolyzing a composition containing an organic metal expressed by formula, M(OR)n to form a precipitate containing a condensation polymer. In the formula, R represents an alkyl or an allyl, M represents Li, Si, Al, Mg, Ba, As or the like and (n) represents 1-8 and is a numeric value decided by the coordination number of M. Next, the polymer gel is dried to form a powdery body and combined with a high temp. stability inorganic fiber. The combined material of the powdery body and the fiber is compressed at a high temp. and the particle is vitrified to form a glass-fiber composite material, which is heat treated to crystallize the matrix body.
