PURPOSE: To enable the soot be become multicomponent system galss stock to be formed at specified composition by repeatedly changing over different kinds of raw material vapors thereby causing them to react.
CONSTITUTION: As a 3-way cock 4 is operated, POCl3, GeCl4 and carrier gas are introduced into a central nozzle 10 through conduit 2. Mixed soot 91' of P2O5, GeO2 then forms at a specified amount on the inside surface of a crucible 8 through flame hydrolysis. Next, the cock 4 is changed over, then GaCl3 which causes chemical reaction with POCl3 to form composite oxides and is liable to cause inconveniences in the burner part and carrier gas are introduced through conduit 3. Soot 92' of Ga2O3 then forms on the inside surface of the soot 91'. The crucible 8 which have been formed with respectively desired amounts of (P2O5+GeO2) and Ga2O3 alternately through repetition of such operations is heated, whereby the glass stock of 3 elements is obtained.
