Abstract:

PURPOSE: In producing the titled compound by a liquid-phase halogenating reaction for a benzene derivative by the use of zeolite having specific pores as a catalyst, to improve selectivity for para-substituted derivative by adding a quaternary ammonium salt to a reaction system.

CONSTITUTION: In producing the titled compound useful as an intermediate for drugs, agricultural chemicals, etc., by liquid-phase halogenating reaction for benzene derivative by the use of zeolite having pores wherein entrance of main voids consists of 12-membered oxygen ring, preferably faujasite type zeolite or L type zeolite as a catalyst, an ion-containing quaternary ammonium salt shown by formula IWformula III [R1WR4 and R are 1W20C saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon residue which may contain substituent group (aryl, OH, halogen, ester or COOH); X and Y are hydrocarbon chain which chain which may contain one or nitrogens; X is 1W11C which may contain nitrogen and Y is 3W13C hydrocarbon which may contain nitrogen] is added to a reaction system to give a para-substituted halgenated benzene derivative having high industrial value in a higher yield than a conventional procedure.
