PURPOSE: To suppress the increase in coefft. of friction after contact start-stop CSS and to greatly improve durability by subjecting the magnetic layer and protective layer of the hard disk to a heating treatment for 0.5 to 2 hours at 200 to 350°C after film formation.
CONSTITUTION: An aluminum substrate with polished Ni-P is subjected to texturing to prescribed surface roughness and after the substrate is washed and dried, an underlying Cr layer, a Co alloy layer which is a magnetic film, an intermediate Cr layer, and a C layer which is the protective layer are successively formed by a DC magnetron sputtering method thereon in the atmosphere of the prescribed gaseous Ar pressure in the vacuum chamber in which the ultimate vacuum degree of a prescribed value is maintained. The substrate is thereafter subjected to the heating treatment for 2 hours at 250°C in the atm. and a lubricating oil is applied thereon after cooling. The increase in the coefft. of friction after the contact start-stop CSS is suppressed and the durability is greatly improved.
