PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a suppressing substance against allergic or nonallergic inflammation in a short time by culturing Streptomyces nobilis as an Actinomycete in a starch-ammonium medium containing yeast extract.
CONSTITUTION: This inflammation-suppressing substance is obtained by culturing Streptomyces nobilies as an Actinomycete (e.g. JCM 4247) in a conventional starch-ammonium-based medium, e.g. a medium prepared by incorporating yeast extract in a liquid medium containing soluble starch, dipotassium hydrogenphosphate and ammonium chloride. The yeast extract to be used is an autolysate liquid of yeast, hot-water extract fluid or concentrate thereof concentrated and dried product from yeast, and is rich in vitamins, organic bases, amino acids, etc. It is preferable that the concentrations of the soluble starch, K2HPO4 and NH4Cl in the medium be 0.01-5.0wt.%, respectively, and that of the yeast extract 0.01-20wt.% in terms of powder. The culture is conducted at 15-42°C for 1-14 days in the medium of pH 2-9; and the cultured product is put to solvent extraction followed by ODS column chromatography, etc., to obtain the objective inflammation-suppressing substance.
