Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a large-sized uniform KTiOPO4 single crystal having a rectangular parallelopiped form by keeping the temperature of a saturated solution of KTiOPO4 at a constant level to keep the saturated state and pulling up a seed crystal while contacting the solution with the seed crystal. CONSTITUTION:Saturated solution of KTiOPO4 is produced from a self-flux solution prepared by using K2O, TiO2 and P2O5 or a solution of a flux such as potassium fluoride. The saturated KTiOPO4 solution 3 is put into a crucible 1 and the KTiOPO4 concentration in the solution 3 is maintained to saturated state by keeping the temperature of the saturated solution 3 at a constant level and constantly holding a KTiOPO4X crystal 4 in the saturated solution 3. A KTiOPO4 single crystal is grown by pulling up a KTiOPO4 seed crystal 5 under rotation while keeping the contact of the saturated solution 3 with the seed crystal 5.
