PURPOSE: To establish the process for production which forms the texture shape not to deteriorate the friction characteristics of a magnetic recording disk surface and compatibly improves both of the magnetic characteristics of the magnetic recording disk and the gliding characteristic of the head even in the case of formation of a magnetic layer, etc., under high-temp. sputtering conditions on the texture of the disk substrate surface.

CONSTITUTION: While pure water or an aq. soln. of highly hydrophilic polishing oil is supplied as a polishing liquid to the contact polishing part of a polishing tape and the substrate surface, the substrate surface is polished.
