Abstract:
To provide a method for efficiently producing a long-chain saturated aliphatic primary alcohol with a high degree of purity.
A long-chain saturated fatty acid ester is produced by a cross coupling reaction between a halogenated ester, in which a pivaloyl group blocks a hydroxyl group of a halogenated alcohol, and a Grignard reagent; and the ester is subjected to subsequent deprotection of the pivaloyl group. Thus, a long-chain saturated aliphatic primary alcohol with a high degree of purity can be efficiently produced.
