To provide an efficient continuous production method of an underpants-type wearing article which has a part better to stretch in width and a part harder to stretch in width.
The production method includes a process in which a strip sheet 120 with its stretchability growing as it is stretched is made to bite into a pair of gear groove roles 31 and 32 having gear grooves meshed with each other to be drawn in width direction. In the process, the pair of gear groove rolls 31 and 32 herein used has drawing parts 31H for drawing the strip sheet 120 in width and a low or non-drawing part 31L for drawing it at a lower rate or none, so that stretch areas 12H and low or non-stretch areas 12L with a low or non-stretchability are formed in the strip sheet 120. This can produce an underpants-type wearing article 1 which includes a wrapping material 11 having high stretching parts corresponding to the stretch areas 12H and low or non-stretching parts corresponding to the low or non-stretch areas 12L.
