Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain moldings from expandable graphite making molds possible to be fully filled before and after the expansion process step even in the case of complicated mold, accordingly, being improved in bulk density distribution and the isotropy of characteristic of the obtained moldings.
CONSTITUTION: In a particularly advantageous process for the production of moldings from expandable graphite, the expandable graphite is first converted into a pre-expanded from and is compress-molded in a compression molding apparatus at temperature below 180°C to obtain pre-moldings. These pre- moldings are heated to temperatures above 180°C in molds to produce moldings.
