Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce an optical mother board with high accuracy and good productivity by fixing long-sized rod lens base materials to straight grooves provided on a substrate surface, then cutting cross grooves on the substrate surface in the direction orthogonal with the axial direction of the base materials. CONSTITUTION:A refractive index distribution is previously formed on the substrate 11 consisting of glass, ceramic, etc., formed with the straight grooves 11A for positioning and the rod lens base materials 12 having the length equal to the length of the substrate are arranged along the grooves 11A by disposing the end faces flush with each other on one plane. After these materials are arrayed in the grooves 11A, a resin material is again poured and filled therein. The upper substrate 13 is mounted thereon and while the respective rod lens base materials 12 are pressed to the substrate 11, the resin material is solidified. The joined body of two sheets of the substrates 11, 13 produced in such a manner and the rod lens base materials 12 is subjected to grinding of a circuit board insertion groove 16 from the direction perpendicular to the columnar axis of the rod lens base materials 12. The rod lenses are coaxially arrayed, piece by piece, with the extremely high accuracy in this way.
