Title:
PRODUCTION OF OPTICALLY ACTIVE ALCOHOLS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3675024
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the subject compound high in optical purity by treating the mixture of an optically active oxazaborolidine with a metal boron hydride as an inexpensive, easily available hydrogen source with an asymmetric ketone and an acid.
CONSTITUTION: The mixture of (A) an optically active oxazaborolidine of the formula (R1 is H, a lower alkyl, etc.; R2 to R5 are H, an aryl, etc.; R6 is H, a halogen, etc.; * is an asymmetric carbon atom) with (B) a metal boron hydride (preferably sodium boron hydride) is treated with (C) an asymmetric ketone [e.g. a compound of formula: R7CO-R8 (R7, R8 are an alkyl, an aryl, etc.)] and (D) an acid (e.g. sulfric acid). The components C and D are dropwisely added to and simultaneously reacted with the mixture of the components A and B. The dropping time is usually 0.1-20hr, and the mixture is preferably stirred at the temperature for 0.1-10hr, after the components are dropped.
