Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the subject reaction product very easily by reacting an aryl compound with a halide of acetaldehyde in the presence of an optically active binaphthol-titanium complex.
SOLUTION: This reaction product shown by formula V is obtained by reacting (A) a compound shown by formula I (R1 to R4 are each H, a halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or the like) with (B) a halide of acetaldehyde (hemiacetal) shown by formula II (X1 to X3 are each H, F, Cl or Br, wherein X1 to X3 are not simultaneously H) in 1 mol or more per mol of the component A, preferably 1 to 100 mols, in the presence of (C) an optically active binaphthol- titanium complex shown by formula III {X and X' are each a halogen, OTf [Tf is SO2Rf (Rf is F or a lower perfluoroalkyl)] or the like; or X and X' are combined with each other to form a compound shown by formula IV (Y and Y' are each H, a halogen, CN or the like), preferably at 0.1 to 50 mol% of the component A.
