PURPOSE: To obtain a uniform and chemically stable oxide superconductor by preparing a parent material of oxide superconductor having a specific composition, sticking a specific metal to the surface of the parent material and heat- treating in an oxidizing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A parent material of a superconductor having a composition shown by formula I (M1 is Sr, Ba or Ca; x=0-0.5) and/or formula II is prepared. Then, one or more substances of a simple substance of Cu, Bi, Tl, Mn, V, Ti, Sb, As, Sr, Ca, Ba, Ni, Li, K, Na, Rb, Cs, Ag, Y or Re (Re is rare earth metal), an oxide and a carbonate thereof and a compound to produce an oxide by thermal decomposition are stuck to the surface of the superconductor. The superconductor is then heat-treated at 300-1,000°C in an oxidizing atmosphere to give the objective superconductor.
