To provide a high yield and a high reaction rate process for the production of a perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether).

This process comprises reacting an α,β-dihaloperfluoroether with a zero valent zinc in a pyrrolidinone solvent, eliminating a halogen, preferably chlorine from the carbon atoms at the α- and β-positions to an ether oxygen, further reacting CF2ClCFClOCF2CF2SO2F with the zero valent zinc in the presence of N methyl 2 pyrrolidinone and producing CF2=CFOCF2CF2SO2F from the CF2ClCFClOCF2CF2SO2F in high yield.
