Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a polyaryl ether ketone, having a high second order transition temperature and excellent in heat resistance, mechanical properties and chemical stability by thermally reacting a specific halophenol in the presence of an alkaline compound. CONSTITUTION:A halophenol such as 4-(3,4-dichlorobenzoyl)phenol expressed by formula I (Ar is bifunctional aromatic group) is thermally reacted in the presence of an alkaline compound such as sodium carbonate or potassium carbonate to efficiently afford the objective polyaryl ether ketone, mainly composed of recurring units expressed by formula II and having >=0.4 intrinsic viscosity using the inexpensive raw material.
