Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the good-conductivity porous glass body with a simple process at the time of producing porous conductive glass by the sol-gel method by producing a wet gel body contg. a specified amt. of the remaining org. matter and heating the gel body in a oxygen-free atmosphere to carbonize the org. matter.

CONSTITUTION: A soln. contg. tetramethoxysilane, methanol, water and hydrochloric acid in 1:2:1.5:0.01 molar ratio is prepared as the starting material, and a wet gel body is formed from the material by the sol-gel method. The wet gel body is dried at room temp. for 24hr to adjust the amt. of the contained org. matter, and then heated at 500°C, for example, in an oxygen-free atmosphere. Consequently, the remaining methanol is decomposed, and a high- conductivity porous glass body contg. carbon particles is easily obtained.
