Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain porous polymer spherules of submicron order by using a high-molecular weight polymer.
CONSTITUTION: An amorphous polymer is dissolved in a first solvent, the prepared polymer solution is uniformly dispersed into a second solvent which is compatible with the first solvent but is a poor solvent or a nonsolvent to the polymer so that spherules having given particle diameters are obtained, the second solvent is permeated to the spherules and a polymer sol is gelatinized in the spherules and solidified to carry out phase separation and to make the spherules porous.
