Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a preform for an optical fiber by which the production time is improved.
This method for producing a preform 10 for an optical fiber comprises an outside deposition stage with a plasma, then succeeding the outside deposition stage by a treating stage for the preform according to hot isostatic compaction in a furnace 22 and a supplementary stage which is treatment by the hot isostatic compaction for enabling the removal of gaseous inclusions formed in the preform due to a high plasma deposition rate. Thereby, the production time of the preform without containing the gaseous inclusions can be shortened.
