PURPOSE: To permit internal chilling of a pipe in the prescribed position of a casting without providing a pipe supporting part to a casting mold by housing an expendable pattern internally chilled with the pipe into the casting mold and pouring a molten metal into such the casting mold.

CONSTITUTION: The pipe 1 is internally chilled by a foamed resin or the like and a positioning device 3 is provided to form the expendable pattern 2. This pattern 2 is imposed on the molding surface of a drag 6, then patterns 7, 8 are slid down to a prescribed position and the molds are closed by lowering a drag. The molten metal is then gradually poured under a prescribed pressure into the mold from a sprue 9 of the drag 6 to burn out the pattern 2 and to substitute the same gradually with the molten metal. The product internally chilled with the pipe 1 in the prescribed position is thereby obtd.
