Title:
PRODUCTION OF RESOL PHENOLIC RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04130120
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a resol phenolic resin of any desired molecular weight by addition-condensing a phenol with an aldehyde in the presence of a specified catalyst, removing the formed water and the catalyst from the reaction mixture, adding an organic solvent to the product, and spray-drying the obtained mixture. CONSTITUTION:A phenol, an aldehyde and a basic compound (e.g. ammonia water) as a catalyst are mixed and heated to effect an addition condensation reaction to obtain a reaction solution. This reaction solution is heated in a vacuum to remove the formed water and the basic compound from the reaction solution. An organic solvent (e.g. methanol) is added to the product, and the reaction solution of a desired viscosity which has been obtained by the addition condensation reaction at 60 deg.C or below, is spray-dried to obtain a particulate resol phenolic resin.
