PURPOSE: To easily produce an organic semiconductive or conductive thin film having a high degree of structural orderliness, by providing a polymer film by utilizing the LB method in combination with an electrolytic polymerization method.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer having a relatively hydrophilic moiety and a relatively hydrophobic moiety in the molecule thereof, such as benzene, pyrrole, thiophene, furan, pyrene, derivatives thereof, carbazole and a derivative thereof is used as a monomer capable of forming a high molecular weight substance when polymerized. By using the monomer as a starting material, a monomolecular film or build-up film thereof 17 of the monomer is provided on a substrate 11 by the LB method. Next, the substrate 11 provided with the LB film 17 is fitted as one electrode in an electrolytic cell 23, and is immersed in an electrolytic liquid 25 containing an electrolyte, together with a counter electrode 21. Then, an electric current is passed between the electrode substrate 11 and the counter electrode 21 to perform electrolytic polymerization, whereby an organic thin film can be obtained which is homogeneous, highly crystalline and highly conductive.
