Abstract:

PURPOSE: To secure workability and to form a deep chilled layer at the time of producing a sliding member excellent in wear resistance.

CONSTITUTION: At the time of producing the sliding member excellent in wear resistance, spheroidal graphite cast iron having a composition consisting of, by weight ratio, 3.3-4.1% C, 2.0-3.0% Si, 0.1-0.8% Mn, ≤0.08% P, ≤0.03% S, 0.1-0.5% Cu, 0.05-0.20% Cr, 0.010-0.060% Mg, and the balance Fe is formed into a structure having a composition consisting of, by area ratio, 20-80% ferrite, 7-71% pearlite, and the balance graphite. Subsequently, remelting chilling treatment is applied to a sliding part and, before or after this treatment, required machining is done.
