Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain pitch as starting material having satisfactory graphitizability by subjecting heavy oil blended with a prescribed percentage of a nitrating agent to primary heat treatment and further subjecting the heat-treated product to secondary heat treatment under prescribed conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Heavy oil is blended with 10-30wt.% nitrating agent basing on the amt. of the heavy oil and this blend is subjected to primary heat treatment by heating to 200-400°C. The heat-treated product is mixed with ≥5wt.% heavy oil basing on the amt. of the heavy oil subjected to the primary heat treatment and this mixture is subjected to secondary heat treatment by heating to 400-550°C.
