Title:
PRODUCTION OF STEEL SHEET DRY-PLATED WITH TWO LAYERS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01201464
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the adhesion and corrosion resistance of a coating film formed on the surface of a steel sheet in an atmosphere at a low degree of vacuum by forming the film consisting of two layers of different metals or metalloids by dry plating.

CONSTITUTION: A first layer of a metal or metalloid is formed on the surface of a steel sheet such as a low carbon steel or stainless steel sheet by dry plating utilizing electric discharge with a hollow cathode or other method. A second layer of a metal or metalloid different from the metal or metalloid of the first layer is then formed on the first layer by similar dry plating. A metal or metalloid layer may be previously formed on the surface of the steel sheet by wet plating. A dry-plated steel sheet having a two-layered coating film exhibiting satisfactory adhesion and corrosion resistance is obtd.
