Abstract:
PURPOSE: To industrially and advantageously obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for a functional material, intermediate for medicines and high-performance solvent for the field of electronic industry, etc., by adding glycidol to a lower alcohol and reacting diethyl carbonate, etc., with the product.
CONSTITUTION: A glycidol expressed by formula I is added to a 1W4C alcohol in the presence of an alkali catalyst (example; calcium carbonate, etc.). The obtained 2-alkoxymethyl-1,2-diol is reacted with diethyl carbonate, an alkyl chloroformate or phosgene to obtain the aimed 4-alkoxymethyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one expressed by formula II (R represents 1W4C alkyl).
